Jawaahir Dance Company presents our Third Gala & Fundraiser The Grand Bazaar, Saturday, May 10, 2008, 6-10 PM, at The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis, 410 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis. Join us for an exciting evening with Special Guest MC Cathy Wurzer, (Host of "Morning Edition" on Minnesota Public Radio), Ahmed Tharwat (Producer & Host, Belahdan (Arab American TV show) Ch 17), Silent and Live Auctions with treasures from locales far and wide, live music by the Mike Croy Jazz Trio, entertainment, henna artist, appetizers, and cash bar. Every year for 18 years Jawaahir Dance Company has presented the best of Middle Eastern dance and music to audiences in the Twin Cities — from world class Arabic musicians like Simon Shaheen and Georges Lammam, to master Egyptian dancers and choreographers, together with the best Metro Area musicians and dancers — all under the direction of internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Cassandra Shore. Cassandra’s vision to bring the rich folkloric heritage of the Middle East to the theater stage was realized in. in 1989 with the formation of Jawaahir Dance Company. The Company has since been recognized for its ground-breaking repertory of traditional, modern, and fusion works of Middle Eastern and contemporary dance.
